Abstract

Purpose:to report a case of pansinusitis with orbital cellulitis with b/l 6th nerve
palsy and its successful outcome
Method:A 9 year old male child presented with double vision and inward
deviation of LE for 1year. past history of pansinusitis with orbital
cellulitis 1 year ago for which he was treated.Following resolution of orbital cellulitis his parents noted inward deviation in LE. On orthoptic evaluation, on alternate cover test both eyes moves alternatively in to out to take fixation with slow redressal movements, PBCT shows LE 40PD base out deviation,BE grade 1 abduction limitation present.
Results:This patient was diagnosed as B/L 6th CN palsy s/p pansinusitis . Patient persisted
to have diplopia and grade 1 abduction limitation both eyes after 1 year with LE 30PD esodeviation so LE 7mm MR recession done . orthotropia is achieved.
Conclusion: Even cumbersome cases like this can be managed successfully if prolonged followup and necessary
intervention is taken at the right time.
