Abstract

PURPOSE – To report clinical findings and management of absolute glaucoma.
METHODS – A 48 years old male presented with complaints of DOV in B/E since 6 months. Patient also complaints of pain in both eyes since 1 month .On SLE, cornea was hazy in B/E with multiple small stain negative opacities in R/E, AC was shallow , iris was muddy looking in both eyes , pupil was mid dilated and non reactive to light in R/E and IOP of B/E was 50.6 mmHg. On Gonioscopy of B/E ;In all four quadrants ,angle was closed.Patient denies PL in R/E and VA in L/E was HMCF -ve ,PL+, PR accurate.Patient was given Inj. Mannitol 200 ml iv stat, tab acetazolamide BD, Oral glycerol 4 tea spoon BD, E/D dorzolamide was given BD , E/D latanoprost plus timolol OD.After 5 days cyclocryoapplication in R/E was done. Pain was decreased in R/E and after stabilising IOP, L/E trabeculectomy was performed.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS – Absolute glaucoma is the end stage of all types of glaucoma. Only pain management can be done.
