Abstract
The outer part of the rim is formed by peripheral retinal fibers & the inner part of the rim is formed by the central fibers. Depending on the loss of these parts of retinal fibers the classification of open angle glaucomas were developed.
Type 1- Loss of peripheral fibers – Field defect starting outside 10ₒ – disc finding is violation of ISNT rule.
Type 2 – Loss of central fibers – Field defect starting within 10ₒ – disc finding is suspicious notch & RNFL defect.
Type 3 – Loss of peripheral & central fibers – Field defect within & outside 10ₒ – disc finding is significant localized rim loss with RNFL defect.
Patients with pre-perimetric glaucoma can be diagnosed on basis of OCT.
