FP3053 : "Rare case of Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy resolving with topical steroids "

Abstract

CASE REPORT A 55 year old man came with complaint of defective vision both eyes (left > right) since 6 months. BCVA Right eye- 6/24, left eye – 2/60. On Slit lamp examination – he had cataract in both eyes. Fundus examination of right eye showed media mild hazy due to lens changes with altered foveal reflex, Left eye had no view due to mature cataract. Lens changes were not correlating with BCVA in right eye. Thus, SD OCT macula was done which showed hyperreflective area between outer plexiform and outer nuclear layer nasal to fovea suggestive of Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy(AMN)in right eye. Patient was advised both eye cataract surgery and given topical antibiotic and steroid post operative. Repeat OCT revealed resolution of earlier retinal changes. CONCLUSION: AMN is a rare entity which can be diagnosed mainly with OCT findings. Here, we present a case of AMN which was a incidental finding and found to have resolved with topical steroids.
