FP2791 : Comparison b/w two int/vit. inj. techniques w.r.t fluid reflux, IOP and therapeutic effect.

Abstract

Aims: To compare two int/vit. inj. techniques in terms of fluid reflux, IOP and therapeutic effect.
Study Design: A prospective, double blinded randomized interventional study.
Methods: 60 eyes were randomly allocated to two groups (direct and oblique int/vit. Inj. technique). IOP was measured before and immediately after inj. and then at 30 min. after inj. Occurrence and amount of vit. reflux were recorded. BCVA and CMT were assessed pre inj. and 6 weeks post inj.
Results: IOP incr. significantly immediately after inj. to 24.30 ± 3.02(direct int/vit. Inj) and 31.50 ± 3.49 (oblique int/vit. Inj). These pressure rise differed significantly b/w both grps (P < 0.0001). 30 min after inj, no significant difference in IOP incr. b/w grps. Occurrence and amount of fluid reflux were significantly higher with direct int/vit. Inj. No significant difference in BCVA and CMT outcome between both groups.
Conclusions: We conclude that direct injection technique seems to be the preferred technique.
