Abstract
• Purpose – To determine the role of OCT biomarkers in assessing visual outcome in patients of DME treated with intravitreal inj RANIBIZUMAB .
• Material / Methods- A prospective observational study was conducted of 30 eyes with Macular edema who were treated with Intravitreal inj RANIBIZUMAB .
SD-OCT images were assessed qualitatively and quantitatively.
The association between BCVA and the OCT biomarkers was analysed.
• Results – A significant correlation was found between OCT biomarkers like central foveal thickness (CFT), presence of disorganization of retinal inner layers , loss of parellelism, presence of high reflective foci and the initial visual acuity and visual improvements.
• Conclusion – Mean retinal thickness and severe disorganisation of retinal inner layers could be considered as negative prognostic markers for visual acuity.
