Abstract
A Case Study of 60-year-old woman, known case of Diabetes mellitus presented with complaints of sudden, painless and progressive loss of vision in the left eye for 1 month having already consulted with two other ophthalmologists prior to this and was diagnosed with Central retinal venous occlusion. Anterior segment revealed the presence of Rubeosis iridis with raised intraocular pressure leading to the diagnosis of Neovascular Glaucoma which was undiagnosed in this case.
In such cases it is imperative to emphasize on the urgent need to lower the intraocular pressure while reducing the progression of neovascularization through pan retinal photocoagulation. IOP monitoring and keeping blood sugar level under control further ensures the regression of NVG.
Missing this disease entity, is an act of Omission as it typically results in severe vision loss along with a possible blind painful eye and carrying poor prognosis, underscoring the importance of early recognition and prevention.
