FP1887 : Narrow angle of fellow eye – a prognostic factor for therapeutic keratoplasty?

Abstract

Study design: Retrospective, comparative Aim: To study narrow angle of the fellow eye as a prognostic factor for therapeutic keratoplasty (TKP) Methods: Records of 11 patients, who underwent TKP, whose angle status of the fellow eye was studied by gonioscopy, were included. Type of keratitis, pre-op clinical features, presence of non-healing graft epithelial defect(ED),outcomes of TKP were compared between those who had narrow angle (S) and normal angle in the fellow eye (C). Results: Of the 11 patients (7 males, mean age: 54.6 years) included, 3 had narrow angle in the fellow eye. There was no significant difference in age, gender, type of ulcer, presence of hypopyon, perforation or ED between both the groups. 7 subjects (57.1%) in group C and 1 (33.3%) in group S had good outcomes. This was not statistically significant. Conclusions: Narrow angle in the fellow eye though associated with poorer outcomes fails to attain statistical significance.
