STUDY DESIGN:Interventional study
PURPOSE:To report a rare case of sealed limbal tear with retained old anterior chamber foreign body
MATERIALS AND METHODS:52/M came to OPD with LE neglected trauma 10 yrs ago,c/o DOV of 5 yrs onset. LE Vn HM.A/S showed sealed limbal tear (11o’clock),FB in AC entering through wound,iris incarceration&traumatic cataract.Investigations done & pt planned for LE FB removal+Lens extraction
RESULT:On table,LE FB removed by creating nick on iris which created a 2 mm limbal defect.Lens extraction done&Tenons patch graft placed over defect.Postop, graft was taken up well.3 months later, LE secondary IOL implantation was done. Postop, patient’s vision improved to 6/6
CONCLUSION:Immediate removal of IOFB is necessary to reduce risk of complications like endophthalmitis&siderosis.Here, the IOFB was retained in AC for so long without any major damage to surrounding structures which is extremely rare & the patient visual recovery was satisfactory postop.
