FP1327 : A case of keratoconus and bilateral congenital cataract in a patient with Down’s syndrome.

Abstract

A 14 years old male patient with Down’s syndrome presented to the Eye OPD with chief complaints of blurring and diminution of vision since birth. The diminution of vision was painless and progressive. Slit lamp biomicroscopy showed anterior bulging and thinning of the left cornea (maximum at apex), multiple SPKs and mature cataract in both the eyes. Munson sign was positive in left eye. Visual acuity at presentation was HMCF+ and PR was inaccurate. Fundus could not be visualized in either eye. Keratometry showed increased corneal curvature. The patient was planned for SICS with PCIOL, but GA clearance could not be obtained because of low hemoglobin. Three units of blood were transfused for the same. The patient has been planned for cataract surgery and called at a later date.
