Abstract

The advent of FLACS has taken cataract surgery to the next level. It is used to perform several critical steps in cataract surgery with high precision like capsular opening, breaking down the cataract-affected lens enabling its easier removal and creating incisions. But even after such advancements, managing operating room time is a challenge. The average time for an uncomplicated phacoemulsification surgery is 10mins but with FLACS it increases to 19 minutes. This is where the "Divide and Conquer" method comes into play i.e. two surgeons working in tandem. One surgeon performs the Femto laser part while the other surgeon performs the Phacoemulsification surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is an unpublished innovation in Indian Ophthalmology. Thus we Divide the Work and Conquer the Time which reduces the burden on a single surgeon and translates to a more comfortable experience both for the operating surgeon and the patient.
