VT0200 : Bridging the gaps- Grafts in Oculoplasty

Abstract

Grafts are an essential tool for oculoplasty surgeons. The type of graft used can vary based on the nature & amount of tissue required, the host tissue involved, the etiology, availability of donor tissue as well as surgeon’s expertise and preference.
This video attempts to describe the graft extraction techniques for commonly used grafts in oculoplastic surgeries including mucous membrane graft, skin graft, dermis fat graft, bone graft and cartilage graft. It summarise the selection of graft and donor site, surgical site preparation, instruments to be used and techniques for retrieval of adequately measured and well-prepared grafts.
The surgical clips used in the video were obtained after due consent from the patients. They were operated under the oculoplasty unit. Proper care was taken to maintain sterility and follow preferred operating room practices during these surgeries. The video aims to cater as an educational tool and does not involve any financial disclosure.
