VT0594 : Split Anterior Capsule : double rhexis

Abstract

The anterior capsule is usually a single layer of basement membrane, which is the thickest basement membrane in the human body, but in rare scenario we can see it split in to two layers and while doing continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis we may get an illusion that our rhexis is incomplete.
in such scenario it is prudent that the surgeon carefully examines the capsule and proceeds with caution as the inner layer may behave erratically and not run along the anterior / outer layer giving us double rhexis.
