Study Design: Case report

Purpose:
To describe a case of paediatric Behcet’s syndrome with ocular involvement.

Methods:
This study examined the record of a patient. Demographic data, detailed history and comprehensive clinical workup were done.

Results:
A 14-year-old boy presented with sudden vision loss along with a past history of recurrent oral ulcers and primary TB. Ocular examination revealed a BCVA of 5/60 and retinitis. FFA showed active vasculitis, which was refractory to immunosuppressive therapy (IMT), provoking reconsideration of the diagnosis. Ancillary tests were done, which ruled out other differential diagnoses, including TB and the child was started on higher IMT and monoclonal antibodies.

Conclusion:
This case highlights the importance of precise and prompt diagnosis to overcome preventable blindness in children.
