Study design: Case report
Purpose: A 11-year-old, female patient with co-infection of TB osteomyelitis and ARN
Methods: A 11-year-old female patient presented with RE decreased vision for 3 weeks. There was also swelling in neck and occipital region of head since 2 weeks. On ocular examination, BCVA was 2/60 in RE and 6/6 in LE. RE had grade 2 RAPD. On fundus examination there was RE disc oedema with peripapillary and peripheral ARN. LE also had disc oedema with peripheral ARN. CT chest showed no evidence of TB, but MRI brain was suggestive of TB osteomyelitis of occipital bone with engulfment of torcular herophili and raised intracranial tension. She was treated with both oral valacyclovir and ATT.
Results: Final BCVA RE was 5/60 and LE was 6/6. There was no active inflammation but RE had optic atrophy. Repeat MRI brain indicated treatment response
Conclusion: All uveitis cases are not routine. It is important for each case to be adequately investigated before initiating treatment.
