Abstract
Study Design-A retrospective randomized non controlled study.
Purpose-To note the Anatomical and functional outcome of corneal tear repair in a tertiary eye care center .
Methods-Randomly selected patients with a history of ocular trauma,Age 3yrs – 54yrs , Sex M:F =13:7 , All Patients underwent corneal repair surgery by a single surgeon with 10-0 nylon filament and intra operative AC formation with air and were followed up on post- operative day 1, 7th and 28th. Post OP assessment based on anatomical intrigrity,BCVA, IOP, fundus and any evidence of infection were noted.
Results-20 eyes of 20 patient studied.Injury found to be more prevalent in Pediatric & young adults, One eye needed Optical PK to restore its function. At 28 days onwards a significant improvement in the post-operative BCVA was noted which is statistically significant (p<0.002). None of the patients developed any endophthalmitis or secondary glaucoma. Approx 33% patients needed cataract surgery to restore BCVA
