Abstract

Records were reviewed for all patients 2 to 18 years of age with at least 6 months of follow-up and a diagnosis of OMG from April 2021 to April 2023 at a tertiary eye hospital.Retrospective design, each of them underwent work up including bedside clinical test and serological assays and pharmacological evaluation.Outcome was assessed at 6 month follow up in following categories: recovered/ partly recovered/refractory/recurrent based on their response to treatment.Strabismus in primary position was present in 38.1%children, motility limitations were present in47.6%patients and 19%had presented with diplopia as their main complaints.19patients were started on pyridostigmine (2 to 4 mg/kg/day in divided doses) .Pediatric OMG still as in adults is a close mimicker of paralytic aetiology in the absence of history of trauma,this must be an early differential in cases of acquired ptosis, where clinical and serological signs mainly remain negative in this age group.
