Abstract

Study Design-A case report of a 45 year old male, aluminium fabricator, presenting almost asymptomatically. Diagnosed as having Right Eye Intra Ocular Foreign Body in the Anterior Chamber with full thickness corneal tear. Purpose-To examine and evaluate the atypical presentation of this case, to place emphasis on ocular protection in high risk professions. Methods-The patient was evaluated at presentation, diagnosed as having full thickness corneal tear with retained intraocular foreign body. Foreign body removal with primary wound closure was performed and patient followed up frequently for one year. Results-Reasons for atypical nature : 1.Size of foreign body larger than entry wound (Suggests very high velocity of foreign body & corneal stretch just before perforation). 2.Relatively asymptomatic presentation. 3.No AC reaction/inflammation. 4.Vision was 6/6 with expected drop after surgery. Patient counseling done for same. 5.No cataract despite lenticular touch.
