Abstract
A 27 years woman and her 5 years child came with chief complaints of inward deviation of left eye since 18 months.
The mother developed HZO in her left face 2 years back and the child had a viral fever post which both developed left Esotropia . On examination mother has BCVA of 6/6 in each eye and child has visual acuity of 6/9 in each eye on Lea charts.
The prism bar cover test showed 75 prism dioptres of esotropia in all gaze of both mother and child. The ocular movements were full range. The mother could see only red dot in worth four dot test while showed 400 sec of an arc of stereopsis on titmus. The atropine refraction of child showed +0.75D sph/-0.5cyl @ 180 in both eyes. MRI brain with orbit showed no significant abnormality in both mother and child. The mother was operated for bilateral MR recession of 6 mm and LR resection of 7 mm and the child was operated with 5 mm of bilateral MR recession and 6 mm bilateral LR resection. On 1 month followup both were orthotropic.
