Purpose-To determine incidence,risk factor and pattern of severity of ROP in a tertiary care Center
Method:1 year retrospective study from October 2022 to September 2023 involved review of risk factors in premature infants <37weeks and birth weight <2000grams admitted to NICU in Vanivilas Hospital,BMCRI,Bangalore.Result:Of 1106 babies screened,7.9% diagnosed with ROP.Prevalence of severe ROP(5%)and APROP(27%).On multivariate analysis mean gestational age and birth weight was 30.05weeks and 1.43kg and inversely asap with severe ROP.Respiratory distress(68.3%),low birth weight(56.9%)and prolonged oxygen therapy >8 days and Sepsis(11.3%)are significant risk factors for severe ROP.Severity of ROP was compared with maternal diabetes(18.9%)and multiple gestation(10.12%)as risk factor.ConClusion:Prolonged oxygen therapy,late onset sepsis,low birth weight,gestational age,maternal diabetes were significant risk factor for ROP and plays role in severity and Progression of ROP
