Abstract

Purpose: Describing clinical profile, surgical technique, and outcomes in complex entropion repair with auricular cartilage graft
Methods: Retrospective data collection (2019-23)
Results: 31 eyelids of 29 patients were included, with an average age of 39.03 years. Cicatricial entropion was the most common indication (77.4%), with Steven-Johnson-Syndrome (29%) being the most frequent etiology. History of prior surgical intervention was present in 21 eyelids (61.7%) while history of failed entropion repair was present in 12 cases (38.7%). In 7 cases (22.5%), the procedure was combined with mucous membrane grafting for eyelid keratinization. Cartilage graft was harvested through posterior auricular approach in all cases. Post-operative results were satisfactory with no donor site morbidity. Over an average follow-up of 13 months, only 4 eyelids required revision
Conclusion: Cartilage graft-aided entropion surgery is a viable and satisfactory management option in complex entropion
