VT0282 : Retro-fixated Iris Claw lens: From goat eyes to human eyes

Abstract

Posterior Capsular rents happen. To everyone. And it’s not always possible to salvage the bag or sulcus to be able to implant a PCIOL. At times like this, Retro-fixated Iris Claw lens is a sight-saving alternative that if implanted correctly following a well-done vitrectomy, can give good vision to the patient for a lifetime. Yet, many surgeons do not regularly implant iris claw lens due to hesitance emerging from inexperience. Through this video, I would like to show that Iris Claw implantation can be practiced on goats eye in the wet lab(especially by residents and fellows in training), and demonstrate the correct technique of Iris Claw lens implantation. The video will also demonstrate clinical cases in which a retro-fixated iris claw lens could successfully be used to save the day.
