Abstract

Purpose-To describe multimodal ocular imaging and management in patients with a ruptured retinal arterial macroaneurysm (RAM)
Methods- 2 patients were diagnosed as RAM with macular edema. Both were treated with focal laser photocoagulation followed by 2 intravitreal ranibizumab injections each 2 months apart. Patients were constantly assessed with OCT ,OCT-A and CF. Both patients were followed up for 6 months after last treatment.
Results- There was a improvement of visual function in general after the treatment.
The retinal hemorrhage and edema were resolved by the treatment in both cases. No ocular and/or systemic side effects were evident , and no recrudescence of RAM was seen within the 6 months of follow up.
Conclusion – Retinal artery macroaneurysm is an acquired rare vascular disease that may mimic a variety of other conditions. Multimodal imaging approach is very useful for planning and assessing the treatment.
