Abstract
To describe the impact of a ROP telescreening program in sub-urban and rural NICUs of South India which included all the new infants from 2015–2022 and parameters including all the details about the infant were noted.Results:17276 babies were screened under a total of 17270 sessions.20 Govt NICUs and 46 Pvt NICUs were covered.52.8 % males and 47.2 % females.16.6 % having GA <32 wks,43.7 % 33-34 weeks and 39.7 %>34 weeks.BW:30.8 %<1500 gms,47.3 % 1501-2000 gms and 21.9 %>2000 gms.Mean GA was 33.8 ± 2.85 wks and mean BW was 1770.2 ± 487.8 gms.AS-ROP were 6.5 % and TR-ROP babies were 3.8 %.48.4 % underwent PRP;50.5 % had intravitreal inj and 1 % VR surgery.Out of TR-ROP,71.8 % from Govt and 28.2 % Pvt NICU.AROP in 22.6 % babies in Govt; 12.2% in Pvt.We have considerably increased enrolling new preterm babies for ROP screening over a period of 8 years and helped in creating awareness allowing the access of diagnostic expertise to underserved areas in developing countries.
