FP0258 : Retro‐mode: a newer insight into dry age‐related macular degeneration (AMD)

Abstract

Purpose:To study role of retro-mode in early detection & to compare with other available modalities in dry AMD.
Methods : Prospective observational cross-sectional study on 409 eyes of 207 patients. Eyes were divided into Group 1: No AMD, group 2: early AMD & group 3: intermediate AMD. Subgroup A: drusen 63–125 μm & subgroup B: drusen 125–250 μm. Patients with active or inactive CNVM, other maculopathies, retinopathies, high myopia, trauma and glaucoma were excluded.
Results : In No & early AMD, drusens detected on RM were not significant. In intermediate AMD, it was significant. Area involved calculated by RM was significant. When all modalities were compared with EDI-OCT & OCTA it was only RM which was found to be in sync in terms of pattern and trend.
Conclusion : RM is found to be a better diagnostic modality in detecting early and a greater number of drusens with area of involvement than other existing modalities
