Abstract
This video-assisted case-based course will highlight challenging scenarios during phacoemulsification, lamellar keratoplasty and refractive surgeries, wherein the surgical plan needs to be changed on-table due to unforeseen complications. Role of appropriate perioperative patient counselling will be highlighted.
Phacoemulsification challenges will focus on managing PCR when the planned IOL cannot be implanted, with emphasis on nucleus management and placement of IOLs, including premium IOL in setting of PCR.
Case-based discussion of rescue techniques in DALK with DM perforation will be performed. Difficulties in DMEK donor preparation and unscrolling necessitating conversion to DSAEK will be highlighted.
Corneal refractive surgeries will emphasise management of LASIK-flap related complications, suction loss and inability to extract lenticule in SMILE. Phakic IOL challenges with iatrogenic damage to pIOL, flat vault with lens-ICL touch and inverse implantation will be highlighted.
