VT0074 : Limbal Lensectomy- A step towards Perfect Vision in a Child

Abstract

Presenting an unedited video of bimanual approach for lens removal with posterior capsulotomy and anterior vitrectomy in a congenital cataract. It shows how the surgery can be completed without repeated entries through the small entry ports in order to avoid chamber fluctuation.. The video demonstrates a simple way of using 23-gauge vitrectomy probe to complete all the steps of lens removal and anterior vitrectomy in one go and without the need of sutures. Early surgery, minimal intraoperative manipulations and post-operative visual rehabilitation go a long way to achieve optimal visual results in a child with congenital cataract.
