Abstract
45 year old lady was referred with incidentally diagnosed pigmented mass behind iris in infero-temporal quadrant of Left Eye (LE). A hyperechoeic lesion arising from ciliary body was discovered on Ultrasound Biomicroscopy (UBM) and corresponded to 4*3mm cilio-choroidal lesion on MRI with no retrobulbar spread. Diagnosis of ciliary body tumour was made and managed by localized lamellar sclerouvectomy under local anaesthesia. Localized peritomy was done to expose and bridle lateral and inferior recti. At the tumor site, partial thickness scleral flap (6*3mm) was raised and ciliary body mass along with wedge of sclera resected. Scleral wound apposed with nylon suture and peritomy closed. HPE revealed ciliary body melanoma (small epithelioid cell type). There was no residual tumour or recurrence on follow up imaging. Trans-scleral resection is an effective diagnostic and treatment modality in localized ciliary body malignancy without significant complications or residual tumor.
