Abstract

Conjunctival cysts can arise either spontaneously or following trauma,infection, surgery. Once conjunctival epithelium gains access, it could then proceed to line Tenon's capsule and the episclera. Another mechanism for cyst formation may be an epithelial downgrowth. These cysts may spontaneously regress or require surgical excision. Surgical excision has been the mainstay of treatment. Complete excision is recommended for big cysts to prevent recurrences. In this case, we will discuss about technique to excise the conjunctival cyst, use of imaging pre-operatively and histopathological details of the conjunctival inclusion cyst following manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS).Excising the cyst in-toto was challenging due to the thin wall of the cyst. Despite careful dissection, the cyst ruptured in the cases reported previously. As per best of our knowledge, this is first case in the literature when this type of conjunctival cyst was excised in-toto without rupturing it.
