Abstract
To evaluate the surgical and cosmetic outcome using a 10/14 French silicone Foley catheter use as a tissue expander device after removal of malignant tumors of the upper and lower eyelids. 10-14French silicon Foley catheter was inserted in the zygomaticotemporal region lateral to lateral canthus. Temporary tissue expansion with balloon filled with 10-14 ml normal saline for 3 days. On 4th day balloon was deflated and a Tenzel rotational flap or scar reviosion surgery was performed. 26 patients had a 60 -70 % lower eyelid and 40-50% upper lid created defect. Central palpebral fissure 8±1.5mm in 1st wk and 14±1.25 mm end 6month. Novel surgical approach utilizing a 10-14 -French Foley catheter as a tissue expander where Temporary Tissue expansion allow easy closure of large eyelid defects with less stress on suture line.
