Abstract
FIVE CHALLENGING CASES OF PEDIATRIC RETINAL DETACHMENT SURGERIES. Case 1 was a Persistent Fetal Vasculature (PFV) with temporal TRD. Centripetal pulling of ciliary processes was noted with anterior elongation of retina. Bimanual dissection of fibrous tissue was done, and retina settled under silicone oil (SO). Case 2 was a closed funnel RD, retrolental membranes were dissected, iatrogenic retinal dialysis noted, retina was seen floating in anterior vitreous suggestive of optic nerve avulsion. Case 3 was diagnosed as closed funnel RD on B-scan, intraoperatively however, attached retina with peripheral avascular areas were noted s/o FEVR. Periphery was lasered and left fluid filled. Case 4 was a case of traumatic RD, meticulous dissection of retrolental and posterior membranes was done and retina settled under SO. Case 5 demonstrates a redetachment post- multiple surgeries with extensive subretinal gliotic bands which were removed and achieved attachment under silicon oil.
