Abstract
Pars plana vitrectomy for retinal detachments involves use of conventional silicone oil or gas tamponades. These are known to be associated with complications like secondary glaucoma , cataract and a delayed visual recovery . There is also a need for post operative positioning and restriction in air travel if gas is used.
This video demonstrates the technique of fibrin glue assisted retinopexy in cases of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments. No silicone oil , gas or air is used as tamponade. No post operative positioning is given to patients. This technique obviates the need for silicone oil or gas and also results in early post operative visual recovery.
