Abstract

A case series of management of IOFB ( metallic) post trauma ( open globe injury ) in which Case 1 . Had preoperative vision of 6/6 with retained IOFB was managed with Vitrectomy and IOFB removal and cataract surgery was done on alter date and pt regained 6/6 vision . Case 2 also had 6/9 On examination, there was a dense vitreous hemorrhage and a subtle iris transillumination defect suspicious for an occult IOFB. pt had undergone vit for IOFB removal but the IOFB elsewhere but could not be removed so we took up the pt for surgery after subjectiong him to B scan and CT scan of the orbit and the IOFB was localised and Intraoperatively, the traumatic cataract was removed along with the ruptured capsular bag and dropped lens matter and the IOFB with fibrinous capsule retrieved from vitreous cavity restoring back good postreprative vion of 6/9
These cases highlights the importance of a thorough history and examination for patients suspected of having an IOFB.
