VT0401 : Management of traumatic subretinal bleed and macular hole by PPV with subretinal injection of tPA

Abstract

A 27 years old male visited with chief complaint of sudden diminution of vision in left eye following blunt injury with rubber strap two days back. His Best corrected visual acuity was hand movement close to face. Examination revealed nasal scleral tear and traumatic macular hole with subretinal bleed. An urgent surgical intervention was performed in the form of pars plana vitrectomy along with subretinal injection of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and modified internal limiting membrane flap technique. Case was closed under intraocular gas temponade. At one month post surgery there was complete closure of macular hole with corresponding vision improvement of 6/36.
