VT0225 : Phacoemulsification & bent ab-interno needle goniectomy in patient of primary angle closure glaucoma

Abstract

A 63-year-old female with primary angle closure glaucoma post YAG-PI and advanced glaucomatous optic atrophy was noted to have intra-ocular pressure 20 mmHg on five topical antiglaucoma medications. Patient was scheduled for cataract surgery and an add-on BANG (bent ab-interno needle goniectomy) was planned to in order to give a trial of conjunctiva-sparing procedure prior to proceeding with more invasive procedures like glaucoma filtration surgery. Patient had an IOP of 10mmHg off medications at post-op day-one. Minimally invasive glaucoma procedures are increasingly becoming more relevant as out understanding about the disease is growing.
