VT0139 : Diagnosis and Management of cyclodialysis clefts

Abstract

Cyclodialysis cleft is an uncommon entity and can be difficult to diagnose and treat. Most ophthalmologists are not trained to surgically correct this condition and there is an unmet need for understanding the surgical caveats for managing this condition. This video demonstrate how to diagnose the cyclodialysis cleft and the surgical management of the cleft aided with intraoperative gonioscopy. Transilluminations aids in identification of the area of the disinsertion of the ciliary body from the sclera and a lamellar scleral flap is created like for a trabeculectomy followed by incision 1.5 mm posterior to limbus to expose the ciliary body. Direct suturing is done from sclera-ciliary body-sclera to appose the detached ciliary body to the sclera and cryotherapy is done at the end to cement the area of closure. The scleral flap and conjunctiva is then closed
This video will discuss the important points in diagnosis and management of cyclodialysis for the general ophthalmologists.
