Abstract
Cerebral visual impairment (CVI) is emerging as an important cause of pediatric visual impairment. Because of other neurological co -morbidities, children with CVI often present challenges in diagnosis and characterization of visual deficits. The course will demonstrate the newer vision assessment tools, CVI range as a tool for predicting progress , specialised refraction techniques, accommodation anomalies testing and tests for functional vision and cognitive assessment. Newer typed of neuroimaging including functional neuroimaging and diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging may provide insights into structure -function relationships. The course will show videos of the various early intervention strategies used and also discuss interventions in terms of prescription of glasses and strabismus surgery for optimal management. Finally when the dust settles low vision management and devices available and enrollment into normal schools and certifications for leading a normal life.
