Abstract
Posterior segment is quite often involved in ocular injuries and necessitates vitreoretinal surgery at varying time points. The prerequisite for any further vitreoretinal intervention is a good surgical closure of the traumatic wound. While certain injuries may require urgent attention such as traumatic endophthalmitis, submacular hemorrhage, giant retinal breaks and retinal detachments, other conditions such as vitreous hemorrhage, vitreoretinal incarceration, traumatic macular holes, and intraocular foreign bodies may be managed either primarily or later as an elective surgery. The optimal timing and type of intervention in such situations is a topic of debate and this instruction course aims to resolve these conundrums. This surgical video assisted instruction course will be an essential resource for all vitreoretinal surgeons involved in the care of ocular trauma patients.
