Abstract
An individual eye is as unique as a fingerprint – why should our approach be so monotonous and routine? In this course, we acquaint the listeners with the concept of ‘customization’ in refractive surgery – whether it is treating the distinctive optical aberrations along with the refractive error in laser-based corneal surgeries; optimizing the size and functionality of ICLs and intraocular lenses based on ocular parameters and patient profiles as well as lifestyles; bringing back the era of surface procedures while eliminating the common complications such as pain and haze that contributed to their descent into disrepute; and improving immediate outcomes with lenticule-based procedures that are notorious for their longer visual recovery periods. With well-defined, systematic and tested approaches applicable in the operation theatre, and display of their intra-operative utilisation in surgical videos, we offer a comprehensive study of the subject.
