Abstract
Often, surgeons are at a loss as to how best to repair eyelid defects or manage ocular surface disorders. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of what should be done when and how to give patients an aesthetically pleasing outcome. What is the best option, a flap or a graft? How to size? What to do when a graft does not take up? How to ensure vascularity and viability? This will be addressed with videos and clinical scenarios of staged procedures for eyelid reconstruction and managing cicatricial disorders of the ocular surface with grafts. We will start with the core plastic surgery doctrines of harvesting grafts and fashioning flaps. Workhorse procedures used in the management of defects from carcinoma excisions including eyelid tumors, OSSN, trauma and eyelid retraction will be outlined. When to use a Tenzel flap, Glabellar flap, periosteal flap, post-auricular skin graft, hard palate graft and MMGs along with fascia lata graft for ptosis and more will be covered.
