Abstract
This instruction course (IC) is aimed at ophthalmologists who are presented with the need for reconstruction of eyelid defects arising from any of a variety of etiologies either traumatic, congenital, cancer or iatrogenic related.
The instructors for this IC have extensive experience in the field and practice in a variety of settings all over the world.
This course includes tackling congenital eyelid anomalies, offering an insight into congenital defects and the most effective reconstructive approaches. The complexities of post-traumatic eyelid reconstruction covering a spectrum of scenarios is then addressed.
Surgical methods of repairing post tumour excision defects are presented with a focus on preserving function, while achieving aesthetic outcomes. We focus on the nuances of reconstruction of challenging defects involving the medial canthal region. Lastly, we address the challengesof revising sub-optimal primary eyelid reconstructions that have resulted in suboptimal results.
