Dr.Santosh Mahapatra

In today’s world, intravitreal anti-VEGF injections are not limited to retina specialists, rather are being used by most of the ophthalmologists. But rationale behind use of these injections is either not understood and choosing or changing the anti-VEGF becomes a matter of confusion. Questions like when to repeat, when to switch, when to stop are imperative as anti-VEGF treatment being a costly affair particularly in India with huge patient expectation associated with it. Hence it puts tremendous pressure on the clinician to match the patient expectations. But the retinal diseases needing Anti-VEGF therapy are not only complex but also sight threatening. So, maintaining the balance between the science of anti-VEGF therapy and the art of patient counselling needs thorough professionalism. Hence this IC is intended to deal with all the aspects to find the answer to this interesting clinical puzzle and targets comprehensive ophthalmologists rather than retina specialists.
