Abstract

Corneal opacity and corneal decompensation in non seeing eyes, is a common cause of cosmetic concern amongst several young and elderly adults. Permanent colouring of disfiguring corneal scars has been known for long. However, in the past few years, several new techniques have been introduced to improve the outcomes. We believe that corneal tattooing has a significant role in improving the cosmesis and self confidence in patients not keen on using prosthetic contact lenses. Corneal tattoo also has a functional role in reducing glare in case of large iris defects. The instruction course aims to discuss the indications, patient selection, techniques and complications of corneal tattooing.
