Abstract
Study design: Prospective study
Purpose: To assess the effectiveness of a novel dry eye analyzer created by artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosing patients with ocular surface disorders(OSD)
Method: Prospective study done to assess successive OSD patients. They underwent dry eye workup using dry eye analyser which includes Non-invasive breakup time (NIBUT), Infrared meibography, lipid layer interferometry and Non-invasive Tear meniscus height. For correlation, Schirmer test and ocular surface staining were also performed.
Result: 380 eyes of 190 patients were examined, with a mean age of 40.2±10.8 years. Abnormal thickness of lipid layer was found in 42.7%. Schirmer test revealed 50.6% of patients had dry eye. NIBUT showed abnormal in 51.53% of patients. 67.72% were found to have Meibomian gland disorder.
Conclusion: Dry Eye Analyzer can identify cases that have previously evaded detection by conventional tests.
