FP0890 : Unilateral augmented single muscle transposition in monocular elevation deficiency-one step ahead

Abstract

Purpose- To describe unilateral augmented SMTin MED and to report its surgical outcome
Methods Prospective interventional institution based study of 10 patients with MED. Single horizontal rectus muscle was transposed to 2mm from SR insertion and along the Spiralof Tillaux .Augmentationwasdone8mmbehindSRinsertion.Primary outcome measures were hypotropia correction for distance(D)& near(N)and elevation deficit at 6 months postop
Results-.FDT was negative in all cases.IR recession was done in 4patients in II stage.Mean preop hypotropia for D &N was 25.70 PD(14-55 PD) &20.90 PD(10-50 PD)respectively It reduced to postop hypotropia of 5 PD(0-14 PD ) &4 PD(0-14 PD ) for D and N respectively Mean elevation deficit inadduction,primary gaze &abduction improved from -2.33,-1.89 &-2.50 to -2.22,-1.3,-2.0 at postop last visit .mean esotropia reduced from31.67 PD(20-45 PD) to7 PD(6-8 PD ) at last post op visit & mean exotropia was reduced from 27.88 PD(10-55 PD) to 14(5-40 pd) at 6 monthspostop
