Abstract

Study design: This is a retrospective case series involving 102 eyes with biopsy-proven Sebaceous Gland Carcinoma (SGC) who underwent surgical intervention as the primary treatment in a tertiary eye care centre. The study period was six years. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcome of primary surgical treatment of SGC. Methods: All surgeries were performed by an experienced, Oculoplasty surgeon. The surgery employed was wide local excision(5 mm) with margin clearance, followed by eyelid reconstruction. Results: Out of 102 eyes, HPE reports showed margin clearance in all eyes, perineural/perivascular spread was commented upon in 30 eyes. On follow-up examination, local lymph node spread was seen in 5 patients and local lid recurrence was seen in 4 eyes.
Conclusion: Surgical treatment with wide local excision and margin clearance showed good control of the tumour both in local and systemic terms and eyelid reconstruction showed good cosmetic results.
