FP0772 : OCT BIOMARKERS IN DIABETIC MACULAR EDEMA AND THEIR ROLE IN PROGNOSTICATING VISUAL OUTCOME

Abstract

STUDY DESIGN: Prospective cohort study
PURPOSE: To study changes in OCT biomarkers after intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and steroid in DME and to correlate with visual outcome.
METHODS: BCVA, OCT biomarkers like CMT, SRF, SFCT, height of intraretinal cyst, number of hyper reflective foci (HRF), ellipsoid zone (EZ) integrity, disorganization in inner retinal layers (DRIL) were measured at baseline and after 1 month of intravitreal injection.
RESULT: Total 42 eyes were included. In ranibizumab group SFCT (r =-0.459. p=0.012 (r = – 0.532, p=0.003), height intraretinal cyst (r =- 0.473, p = 0.010) showed significant correlation with improvement in BCVA. In triamcinolone acetate group only HRF (r = – 0.702 p = 0.007) was significant.
CONCLUSION: OCT biomarkers can be used to monitor therapeutic response and to predict visual outcome after intravitreal injection in DME.
