FP0759 : Tear biomarkers in Thyroid eye disease: First Indian study

Abstract

Introduction
Thyroid eye disease is an autoimmune disease with variablepresentations. There was always an unanswered question as to why only few patients are affected and many are not affected
Methodology
The sample (tears) were collected from two tertiary eye hospitals. The study was initiated after Ethics clearance . With the basis of knowledge from existing literature Multiplex ELISA was done to look for biomarkers in tears. IL 2,6,10,7,17,TNF @,INF and PDGF were studied.
Results
We had 19 patients with TED, 11 patients with thyroid dysfunction but no eye disease and 14 healthy controls. 7 patients had DON. (64%) We noticed significant increase in 1L 7(p value 0.01) in patients with DON compared to healthy controls and patients without TED. We noticed significant increase in tear interleukin levels of 2, 17, INF and TNF @ in patients with activity compared to healthy patients without eye disease
Conclusion
We present our novel and naive study on TED biomarkers
