Abstract
PURPOSE:To describe the clinical presentation and ocular outcome of tubercular optic neuropathy in a tertiary care centre.MATERIALS AND METHODS:This is a prospective hospital based study done in 9 patients from December 2022 to September 2023.Detailed ophthalmological examination of patient visual acuity testing,slit lamp examination and fundus examination using Indirect ophthalmoscope ,blood investigation and other relevant investigation were included.RESULTS:Out of 9 patients optic disc oedema was seen in 4 patients,papilitis seen in 3 patients,optic neuritis in 2 patients,neuroretinitis in 1 patient,visual field defect in 2 patients.The final visual outcome of 6patients were between 6/12 to 6/24 2 patients were between 6/36 to 6/60 and 1 patient was HM positive.CONCLUSION:In this study the most common signs were optic nerve edema, papilitis and optic neuritis.visual outcomes after treatment were good.
