Abstract

This is a prospective randomised clinical study conducted at a tertiary care hospital.The purpose of the study is to compare the visual outcome and efficacy of Dichoptic method versus Orthoptek in treatment of anisometropic amblyopia in children.A total sample size of 40 children aged 6-18years with anisometropic amblyopia attending the out patient department was taken and further divided into two groups of 20 each.Children were assessed for visual acuity,cycloplegic refraction,contrast sensitivity and stereopsis.Correction for best visual acuity was done.Dichoptic therapy was advised through video games on smart phone for 2 hours per day for 6 days a week . The other group underwent 10 sessions of Orthoptek treatment with each session of 60 minutes each.Both groups were evaluated after 3 months and 6 months . It was found that the best corrected visual acuity ,contrast sensitivity and stereopsis improved in both groups but were better improved in Orthoptek group.
